No rest for the wicked. New Year’s Day, and Frank is back at his desk, albeit for a couple of sketches only, and fairly simple ones at that. These are the struts between the wings, and although the basic dimensions remained the same throughout the production run, you can see that he’s added a note to show that the length was reduced very slightly when they redesigned the wings after the first flights. The wood for these has to be flawless, and they were machine cut for us by Hercules propellers, but cutting them accurately to length with exactly the right angle is critically important, and very, very scary. In fact, we haven’t finally done it yet…

Have you notice Frank’s new year resolution? All the dates up to now have shown the month in Roman numerals. From here on in, they are all in Arabic numerals.
