96. Injury!


As you know, the rivetted tanks are being made by Ian Harris, with Rick or me helping out wherever possible.

Ian’s made a great start on the oil tank, but things have been delayed owing to an unfortunate accident. Ian was taking part in the 250 mile Clee Hill trial organised by the Midland Auto Club. He was a passenger in a 1917 Dodge which, because of its high ground clearance and narrow wheels, was ideally suited to the off-road conditions and keeping well up with the pack, when his hand, which was holding on to the frame behind the driver, caught on a button for the tonneau cover during a violent bounce, and shattered a bone just above his wrist. Poor Ian has his hand strapped up in plaster, but nevertheless we managed a day making the brass outlet pipe and fitting it to the sump, as you can see below.
